In today’s edition of “thing that should not be a thing” that found its way onto my ads on Amazon, I present !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Kinja'd!!!

So yeah. Um. I have a few notes:

Your product is named a run-on sentence. Innovative as You may think it is, please consider using other sections of your ad to describe the product. Then again, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , appears to be quite successful with that approach, so maybe keep it.

Regarding the photo, it appears as though you haven’t actually taken a photo of a lady with “Ladies Edition” Attractive Chrome Socket Labels (...) at all. Not only does your pink 7/8” label appear to be photoshopped onto a socket that looks much larger than 7/8,” it would also appear that the hand holding is not actually attached to the lady. This is evidenced by “her” hand’s triumphant transcendence from the confines of her white walls into a world of very light gray and free-floating sockets. I would suggest hiring a professional to engage in further photoshopping, when the budget allows.

I’m confused by the use of “Her” in the title. It is both in quotes and capitalized and I am unsure why you chose to do so. Are they not truly her sockets? Is she not allowed to actually own sockets because she’s a woman? This certainly helps to explain the photo. (SIDE NOTE: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , like seriously weird.)

I don’t mean to sound offended by the presence of gender roles in chrome socket labeling, nor did I feel the crushing, patronizing weight of the patriarchy when I saw them, but I don’t seem to understand how or why they exist. It just seems unnecessary. As a result, I’ve concluded that they should not exist.

I know of one very good reason to why they should exist.

Imagine putting these on a friend/co-worker’s sockets so the sizes are 1-2 sizes off and then watching as they cry in frustastion and agony because none of their sockets fit the way they should.

And then you get knocked the fuck out because you messed with their tools. But #worthit

I’m not going to comment on the alleged female nature of these stickers, as I sometimes have a hard time telling my own tools’ sizes apart without close inspection.

Kinja'd!!!

As for the actual advantage these stickers offer: Ok, so maybe the stickers are easier to read than the engraved markings. However, the color coding only serves to distinguish MM from SAE tools. That’s minimally helpful, considering many manufacturers already have a band on the sockets to identify their sizing system.

I recently took the time to paint my sockets to better tell them apart, and will write up a post about it soon. It’s astonishingly effective, regardless of what side of the socket is facing me at-a-glance.

This could be one of the best Aprils fools jokes. Find someone with tools, stickers, and then let the phone call occur

It’s a sticker. they’ve been selling this stuff for ages. There’s nothing “innovative” here.

Most of the women I know and have known would kick me right in the bells if I bought them this.

Those ads baffle me, the ones for used cars on craigslist/ebay are the weirdest though.

“Well I wasn’t going to buy your rusty ‘85 Buick. But now that there is a averagely attractive woman in a bikini top laying on the hood looking slightly annoyed at the cameraman I’m total in!”
